HAROLD WOOD v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI on Sat 23 Jul 2011 at 1PM
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Lost by 67 runs
Match report
The two best bowling attacks in the world pitched up at Harold Wood recreation ground on Saturday. A feast of amazing bowling turned the game into one of total survival. The home side were asked to bat first and were immediately in trouble as they struggled to come to terms with Parks dynamic attack of the ever youthful Ejaz Khan's blistering pace and swing, coupled with the bowling of Richard Symmons his height of Joel Garner and the jagged seam movement of Richard Hadlee Park tore out the top order. Harold Woods captain and man of the match showed lion heart bravery as he staved off wave after wave of attacking searing pace and movement. Chris "Warney" McKie came on and produced uneerinly similar deliveries to his mentor in his prime ripping the ball in all directions. It was an amazing sight to see such fantastic bowling. 133 was always going to be a hard score though against another world class attack.
Riz Quereshi turning the ball side ways with fantastic Phil Tufnell guile was so difficult to handle and with Richard "JK" Brabner at the other end Park never had a chance and were massacred being bowled out for a poultry 60 odd.
Park suffered another poor defeat made all the more harrowing losing to a side bottom of the league that hadnt won a game all year but with this dominance it would be fair to say that they could rise to the dizzy heights of second from bottom whilst Park prop up the table.
It was a feast for all to see as one man and his dog and Harold Wood first team played Tilbury on the footie pitch next door were treated to two teams with amazing bowling attacks produce wizardry.
What a day ! One never to forget.
Congratulations to Harold Wood and one person in particular their captain Riz Quereshi
