Match report Fives and Heronians came out victors in a closely fought match which Park should have won.
Asked to bat first Park bowled well with Ejaz Khan 5-35 and Jakk Carver 1-21, Vamshi Lingala taking 1-24 from his 10 overs but with the visitors 151-5 with only 8 overs to go. Some poor fielding and sloopy bowling allowed the visitors an extra 40 to 50 runs at the death which proved crucial.
Park got a decent start but nobody could go on. Sameer Zia 31, and a fine knock from Jamal Francis 22 before his innings was cut short, Chris Collier 46 and Asim Razzaq 52. Park really should have done better and sealed the match but some fine bowling from Ryan Cunningham ex Sawbridgeworth 5-31 from his 10 overs at the death saw Parks challenge fade away. Fives bowled well and their fielding was what kept them in the game and finally created the pressure leading to the rapid fall of wickets towards the end of the innings.
All the more disappointing was that continuously Park controlled the game for long periods but just could never apply the final nail. All credit to Fives who fought bravely throughout the match and deserved the victory at the end.
