Match report Park finished the season as far as Saturday use of Gallows Corner is concerned with an entertaining and closely fought 40 over interclub match (the hockey club take over from now, but further games will be played by the club to the end of September). Richard Wall's B side batted first and after a brisk 19 from Lee Carter the innings stuttered until Brian Kulesena smote the bowling to all parts with some splendid strokes. He was unfortunately out when set for 32 (3 sixes, 2 fours) but Connor Donnelly and Charlie Kiernan added 23 and 21 respectively until they were out with the total only 115 for 8 as Chris McKie's leg spin accounted for the middle order. There were plenty of overs to play however, and skipper Wall found great help from Andy Jenner as they ensured that the overs were used and a decent total posted of 185, Wall scoring 33 and Jenner 15 not out. Just about par or a little below? It seeemed the latter as Peter collier played serenely along with Baber Choudhary as the score steadily mounted. When Baber was out for 20 a break was applied (slightly) before collier retired having reached 50 (the match rule was retired out on 50). Brijesh Patel carried on the progress with some assured shots in company with Chris McKie (21) and James Pegram (17, so much so that when he reached 50 and retired the score was 178 for 6 with 4 overs left. Simple to win from there, only 7 needed? As usual there was a twist was Amandeep Jattana removed the next three batsmen, including a great catch by Mughir Qureshi to dismiss his brother Mueez, still two to win, before out strode the A side skipper Chris Webber to hit the winner. Great finish, very enjoyable game and a few drinks to follow!!
