Match report Park fielded two sides for the final Sunday of the season at Gallows Corner and had a mixture of colts and grey hairs for this game against Carlton Sports. On a fine September afternoon Carlton Sports batted first and soon lost a wicket, but thereafter the innings was dominated by Terry McCann who played some powerful cuts and pulls on his way to 89 not out (13 fours, one 6) well supported by Gary Jones with 56n as they put on 115 for the 3rd wicket. The Park bowlers stuck to their task but could make little impression on an easy paced pitch, fielded well and the declaration at 208 left them to score 5 an over to win the game. this was a difficult ask but youngsters Sam Hewitt and Anish John played very sensibly to put on 55 for the first wicket at a steady pace before both left within an over of one another, Sam for 24 and Anish for 26. Wickets steadily fell sfter this, Chris Lamb looking set but falling to a full toss, and Mughir Qureshi driving well for 30. However the innings was well short of the win when father and son Imran and Mueez Qureshi had 9 overs to bat out and they did this with no alarms for an honourable draw. Nice game, good spirit by both teams and a good end to the Sunday season with all the team contributing.
