Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Sunday 2nd X1 v CHIGWELL on Sun 12 Sep 2010 at 1PM
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 13 runs
Match report
Park's Sunday A side entertained old rivals Chigwell on the main square at Gallows Corner, and played out a close match finishing with a win by 13 runs. At 19 for 3 having taken first knock the afternoon did not seem promising, but Park Skipper Brijesh Patel and Peter collier batted with purpose and application to add 31 to take the score to 60 for 4 (Collier 30) before Gursharan Jattana added a further 79 for the 5th wicket, hitting 33. Brijesh ended with 77 not out, a fine knowck, and the declaration was well timed at 164 for 5. Chigwell opener Peters batted well after his side lost two early wickets with great su[pport from Sawbridgewoth 1st XI opener Marshall but the turning point came when the latter was out for 29 to a stunning boundary catch by colt Liam Neal. The innings lost momentum, Peters was out for 37, and it looked like Park win as Chris Mckie picked up four wickets with his leg spin (he finished with 4 for 42). late flurry byu the lower order brought the scores close however befor skipper Patel's off spin reaped 3 for 14 anfd the win came by 13 runs. A well palyed and enjoyable match, and thanks to both teams!
