HORNDON ON THE HILL 4TH v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 5th XI on Sat 07 Aug 2010 at 1PM
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 58 runs
Match report
Park lost the toss and were asked to bat first on a slow grassy pitch with some tennis ball bounce in it. Ian Greenwood and ammar Zahid piled up the runs and after 9 overs the score was 50 when Ammar (19) hit a high full toss to mid off and Ian was out to a beauty from veteran Terry Hills for 30. This became 74 for 4 as the Park batsmen found ways to get out to some ertic bowling, the exception to this being Hills who bowled splendidly and with stamina and finished the match with 23.4o 10m 43r 5w, great figures! Rajesh Kanojia blasted 30 with 4 sixes but when skipper Andy Jenner came to the crease the score was 116 for 6 and one retired, and plenty of overs left. He steered the lower order, finishing 30 not out and receiving great support from Michael Ryder with a season's best 25, setting up a declaration at 181 for 9. It rained during the tea interval so Park had a wet ball to contend with at first as Horndon added 33 for the first wicket. Raj Kanojia then struck twice in an over and Nelson Lopes took two to leave the innings rocky at 45 for 4. Paul Koscyk and Danny Biggs added 50 for the next wicket, riding there luck, but after they fell for 21 and 30 respectively to Lopes the innings ended very quickly with 12 overs of the last 20 left. Kanojia finished with 4 for 29 off 11 overs and Lopes 5 for 29 off 13 overs, both fully deserving their figures. Michael Ryder chipped in with the other wicket as Park took maximum points.
