Match report Park lost the toss and were asked to bat first on a dry pitch which produced unpredictable bounce. The West Essex attack bowled well and to their field but a steady start produced 29 before Ahmad Butt was caught at mid off. The introduction of Malik and Roberson produced further wickets as the home batting was put under the cosh and struggled to break free. Ammar Zahid and Chris Lamb both hit to mid off, Nelson Lopes received a brute of a ball that reared off a legth and Rajesh Kanojia ws bowled by a ball that kept low. Ian Greenwood was using his experience to good effect for 44 but eventually plyed on to a lifting delivery. Junior colt Josh Turner proceeded to bat with assurance however and with some lusty blows from Danny Long the total went over 100 but it was not to last and a final score of 128 was below par even on this pitch! All the bowlers performed well and it was the best attack Park have faced all season. Ahmed 2 for 27,Roberson 2 for 9, Malik 2 for 35, Afzal 2 for 19 and Baxter 2 for 12. It was going to take a bigeffort to defend the totla but Park's attack has done well this season and began brightly as Kanojia bowled Eversden with a beauty and Ammar Zahid held an astonishing diving catch at cover off Ahmad Butt, who then cleaned out the number four batsman to make it 16 for 3. Game on we thought but catches win matches, and number 5 Jan chipped a sitter to mid on which would have made it 20 for 4 - but the chance was put down, and he then proceeded to blast the ball to all parts. Park bowled one or two bad balls an over, and all were dispatched. By the time Jan was dismissd for 41 the game was all but over and Colin Baxter, who opened, had calmly kept things moving at the other end with 44 not out as West Essex won in 29 overs. A very bad day at the office as they say, but this is a competitve division and Park have done well so far.
