Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Under 15's v Woodford Wells on Sun 17 Jul 2005 at 9.30
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Lost Lost by 7 wickets
Match report
( 01Aug2005) I apologise for the late addition of this result & match report - this was owing to computer problems.
As it's late and my memory is not all that I'll keep it brief.
Played on the main pitch at GPRCC.
GPRCC won the toss and elected to bat.
After only a handful of overs it became apparent that W’ford Wells U15’s were a very well organised and talented team. In the second over the first ball from their left arm over quickie just clipped the top of Mathew Peacocks off stump, a superb delivery (don’t despair Mat I think it would have done most openers?) and a good example of what was to come. Mathews opening partner Eddie Gavigan was the only batsman to overcome the quality bowling Wells served up, he eventually fell at the end of the innings. Eddie took the Wells openers on and scored freely with some quality aggressive strokes early on, upon seeing the rapid loss of his team mates he later showed his defensive qualities finishing with a magnificent 46 runs out of a GPRCC total of 77 runs.
Wells first 4 batsmen appeared very accomplished. Enter Eddie Gavigan opening the bowling with a fine spell of fast accurate deliveries, finishing with figures of 4-0-12-2, taking the only wickets in the Wells innings as they got 78 for 2 in 10 overs.
Do not despair lads Woodford Wells are the best outfit we have played to date.
