Harold Wood v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Under 13's on Sun 07 Aug 2005 at 9.30am
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 56 runs
Match report
A weakened, but nonetheless spirited and friendly Harold Wood side were rather 'swept aside' by a strong GPR team, despite the absence of Anuarag and David Brett. GPR batted first and whilst openers Andrew and Chris McKie threw their wickets away cheaply, Adam, Lloyd and Connor tucked into the bowling with all three retiring in the mid-twenties, a luxury normally only afforded to pop stars and footballers :) . Jack Miles moved the score along with 15 of his own runs leaving Harold Wood the heady task of scoring 8 an over to win. GPR bowled steadily but did not really penetrate the early H.Wood batting, indeed they went along nicely to 67 for 1 but this was decidedly well behind the run rate. Whilst Chris McKie and Andy Jones missed out with the bat, they joined Michael Pegram in being the only bowlers to take a wicket. As the game closed, the biggest cheer was reserved for Englands eventual nail biting win over Australia which was in rather stark contrast to the slightly easier win achieved by GPR. Good to see the side winning matches with such dominance though.
