Match report GPR U13's were convincingly outplayed in this last Peter Coe cup game by a Shenfield side whose strongest players were allowed to gorge themselves on some relatively indifferent bowling, leaving GPR a thoroughly stiff target to reach, which , with a lot of tight bowling from the Shenfield team, never really looked in range. By the halfway stage Shenfield had reached 115 for the loss of only one wicket. Only Anuarag Sharma, as he has done all season, bowled with any control and quality returning with a fine 3 for 27 off five overs, all of whom were the Shenfield top three batsmen, and David Brett , the only bowler to concede less than five an over, should not be overlooked. Chris Lamb benefitted from the Shenfield tails failure to convert three full tosses into anything but catching practice and whilst not wishing to take anything away from Chris his figures of 3 for 3 were a little flattering. Ali Ahmed bowled straight and was rewarded with a couple of wickets, and whilst GPR caught well and kept at it, the bowling was some of the least inspiring we had seen all year. In reply GPR were never up with the rate. Tight bowling from Shenfield and the consistent loss of wickets meant that the innings was really just a procession. Connor Halsey once again stood out as the star batsmen in the side with a patient 27. Lloyd Renvoize (12) smote some good blows before being run out, a sad demise for one of the faster runners in the team ! Jack Miles (13) added some impetus to the middle of the innings but it all drifted away to nothing in the end. Lets hope the team close off the season in better style in next weeks final fixture at Woodford Wells.
