Old Parks v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Under 13's on Sun 03 Jul 2005 at 9.30am
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 31 runs
Match report
Another impressive performance by the U13's in this Peter Coe Cup tie. Batting first, Chris McKie (11) set Park off to a quick start and then Connor Halsey (13) and Adam McKie(30) put on 40 runs to give Park a platform on which to build. Park however failed to use all there overs and finished with 120 all out off 27 overs with only Andy Jones (12) reaching double figures from the last 6 batsman, indeed the last 5 wickets fell for only 11 runs. Some sloppy fielding from Old Parks and 25 extras perhaps flattered Park a little, but nevertheless it was a solid performance from them. Adam and Connors partnership was well made, and only the thought of wanting to despatch every ball for six, having hit a beauty over mid-wicket just three balls earlier, led to the demise of the captain Adam. Park bowled well in reply, Colin (Golden Overs) Campbell took three for , what for him was an expensive 7 runs, and man of the match Adam MckIe took 3 for 13, with the Pegram twins chipping in with three wickets at the end (james 2-9 and Michael 1-12). Parks bowling, and also there excellent fielding, was to prove too strong for Old Parks , who , in the end , were dismissed for 89 having kept up with the run rate for the first half of there reply. David Brett was splendid in the field, Chris Lamb chased and threw well, some good catches taken by Colin Campbell, James Pegram and Andy Jones, and Connor Halsey's keeping was excellent, indeed the 9 extras conceded was a testament to this. Park need to keep an eye on there batting though, too much watching 20-20 cricket has done them no good at all and playing straight and keeping the ball on the floor is the only way they are going to win matches against stronger opposition and good fielding sides.
