Brentwood v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Under 13's on Sun 22 May 2005 at 9.30am
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Lost 75 runs
Match report
A disappointing drubbing for the U13's by an above average but not spectacular Brentwood team. Brentwood batted first and got off to a steady start adding 76 for the first wicket in 15 overs, running well between the wickets as GP&R struggled to defend the large outfield. The bowling was straight but lacked any penetration and Brentwood continued to score steadily although did not accelerate at the close and it was to GP&R's credit that they continued to field with enthusiasm despite the fall of only 5 wickets. A fine catch from James Pegram and a good spell by David Brett picking two wickets at the close did much to stem the score, along with Lloyd Renvoise's second spell of 3 overs 1 for 1 (a much more impressive stint than his opening 3 overs). In reply GP&R got off to the worst possible start, with last weeks hero Jack Miles top edging the first ball, a full toss, around the corner only to be snapped up well by the Brentwood fielder. Bowen went first ball of the third over, and Halsey was unlucky to play on to the very next ball leaving GP&R floundering at 10 for 3. Some runs from Adam McKie (9) and a mini revival by Renvoise(14) and Chris McKie made the score a little more respectable, but GP&R never batted with any authority against a steady but not particularly agrressive bowling attack. In the end it was all over in the 23rd over at 65 all out.
