Gallows Corner Sports & Social Club (Main Club) AGM

The 2014 MAIN Club AGM -- NOT the Cricket Club AGM -- will be held on Wednesday 26th March at 8.00 p.m. The Main Club committee is responsible for the running and maintenance of the Clubhouse and the grass pitches outside the club. They meet at the Clubhouse once a month, usually on the third Wednesday of each month.

The five electable positions on the committee are:

President - Historically a figurehead role, but responsibilities can be agreed by the new committee.

Chairman - Responsible for chairing committee meetings and the AGM, dealing with the local Council (from whom we lease the clubhouse and pitches) and service suppliers, liaising with the bar manager and facilitating the day-to-day running of the club.

Vice Chairman - Acts as the Chairman's deputy and undertakes tasks as agreed at committee meetings.

Secretary - Takes the minutes at committee meetings and the AGM and enters in to written correspondence as required.

Treasurer - Ensures all bills are checked and paid, updates and produces monthly and year end accounts.

The AGM Nomination Form is now on the Notice Board, which is in the Lounge on the wall to the right. Currently Laurie Mumford is President - Hockey, Kevin Parslow is Chairman - Hockey, Andy Jenner is Vice Chairman, Brijesh Patel is Treasurer and Dave Brazier is the Secretary - Hockey.

It is vital that all of the roles are filled to enable the club to function properly. The time commitment is not huge and the posts are a great opportunity for our members to get involved in managing a small organisation. If you are interested in a role, please put your name down on the Nomination Form and get someone to propose you and another person to second your nomination.

Please make an effort to attend this AGM next Wednesday at the Clubhouse -- the meeting does not take very long, but there may well be issues involving the Cricket Club that will be discussed then.
