U9's fall short against Goresbrook

24 Jul 2013

Our U9s fell just short on Sunday as another fine performance was not quite enough to beat Goresbrook away from home.

Winning the toss and inserting the home team, Gidea Park and Romford bowled tightly, despite Goresbrook getting off to a good start.  There were two wickets for Freddie, and a wicket each for Liam and Robbie, whilst Ibrahim got some good turn in his 2nd over.  But the star with the ball was Tom who picked up 3 wickets (including 2 in 2) and held on to a fine catch on the boundary.  Alex, captaining the team this week, had an excellent game behind the stumps.

Connor was the highest scorer in GP&R’s innings, ably supported by Christopher, Robbie and Luke, whilst both James and Jack batted with their customary enthusiasm.  But unfortunately, our keenness to keep the score-board moving provided to be our undoing as several run-outs ultimately proved to be the deciding factor.
Whilst disappointing to loose, it was yet another improved performance by the boys, both individually and by the team as a whole.
