Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club News story

Final league weekend

05 Sep 2011

The dust has settled after Saturday's final round of matches and all sides bar the 1sts (whose fate was sealed two weeks ago) were comfortably mid table. The 1sts story of the season continued with a narrow 10 run loss at home to Chingford despite being in a winning position thanks to 5 wickets and a first ton for the club from Jamal Francis. The 2nds lost at Chigford, the 3rds scored heavily at Fives and won comfortably with good runs from Sam Hewitt, the 4ths demolished Benfleet for 53 all out, the game being over at 3.40pm, and the 5ths beat South Woodford batting first with Sampath Gamvasam on a season's best of 91. Where did the season go? Thanks to all players, officials, coaches, caterers, Brian the groundsman and volunteers and supporters for all their efforts over the summer! We now have a weekend of friendly cricket coming up to finish our season, with the Chairman's XI v The Club XI and a Kwik Cricket festival for the juniors on followed by the Colts Presentation Evening on Saturday, and matches v Carlton Sports and Chigwell on Sunday.
