Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club

The club entertains the MCC every two years and this year's match is on Wednesday 20th July, 11.30am start at Gallows. The MCC always bring a strong side and the match is usually a good contest, and this year was no exception until rain cut short the match with an interesting last hour to go. An experienced MCC line up containing many players from the SNEL circuit batted first against a young Park side and declared at 213 for 9 (Richard Walford 49, Julian Russell 40), an excellent performance in the field by the home players and bowlers (Chris McKie 3 for 46, Haris Afridi 2 for 32, Aaron Hughes 2 for 46). Park were 89 for 2 in reply (Will Cooper 40, Nilesh Mohwadia 22 not out) when the rains came. Thanks to all the catering volunteers, the umpires (Tom Kilby and Bill Taylor), scorer Danny Long and to the MCC for an excellent day.
