On another bright and sunny day but with a stiff and chilly breeze across the ground, the 1sts comfortably won against Belhus in the Dukes Essex League Cup 2nd round to set up a quarter final against Leigh on Sea, Chris Collier scoring a delightful 73 not out to head the batting and with contributions all round from the bowlers. The 2nds and 3rds won friendlies against Belhus and Chingford respectively and the 4ths drew with Chingford on a very flat pitch at Gallows. We were less successful on Sunday in the 1st round of the CCC cup against powerful Middlesex side Teddington, losing by 10 wickets. Next weekend the League starts with all five teams in action, the 1sts at home to Hadleigh & Thundersley, and on Sunday we entertain Waltham in the National Cup 1st round.
