Natwest Cricketforce Report

07 Apr 2011

NatWest Cricketforce over the weekend of Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th April was a big success in refurbishing and painting the sightscreens and decorating the groundfloor exterior of the clubhouse. In some brilliant weather, on the screens the damaged wood was removed, new slats were cut and proofed, existing slats were painted, a major task which we have to undertake every two years or so.

With the hockey club running a club tournament this year on the 9th our ability to do more was limited, but after the "official" handover from winter to summer in week commencing 18th April the refurbishing work was continued and the paviion cleared for the first matches on 23rd and 24th April. Massive thanks to Ian Roberts for organising the day and ensuring all materials were in place and the "team" organised on the different projects!! A 7.30am to 5pm shift for him. And even more massive thanks to Ian and Dave Cobill for their Herculean work in the week up to the colts registration evening and opening match!!!

We hosted a team of seven from Natwest on Sunday 10th and they put in a good shift to help us achieve our objectives. Many thanks to them - and many thanks to those members who put in some hard yards over the two days under robbo's supervision: Andy Jenner, Chris Webber, Matt and Micky Tarr, Jakk Carver, Russell Collard, Luke Baker, Brijesh Patel, Craig Bray, Les Hall, Dave McNulty, Paul Ross. See the photos for men and women at work!

I am not sure memebrs full appreciate what is needed to convert the pavilion from the hockey season to the cricket season; it takes a heck of  lot of effort and the appearance of the clubhouse on the appointed days did not just happen on its own as if by magic.

My personal thanks to one and all.

Andy Jenner, Club Chairman
