Gidea Park and Romford Cricket Club needs to invest in a new Astroturf cricket wicket for use by all members including the juniors’ section and the newly formed girls’ and women's section as well as the local community.
The current wicket is badly dilapidated and run-down and needs to be replaced. As you can see from this photo!
Why are we fundraising?
Despite being fortunate to have two grass cricket squares, we still get affected by the UK's inclement weather and last year we had to cancel numerous training sessions and matches as we couldn't use the wickets that had been prepared. A fully functioning Astroturf wicket would have softened this blow and many more matches would have been able to go ahead.
Running parallel to this our junior section has grown dramatically over the past few years and this season alone we have more than 100 junior matches scheduled. The demand on our grounds from our junior members and newly formed girls and women's sections continues to grow and we need the facilities to meet this demand.
Our target
We are aiming to raise £4,500 to ensure that we can purchase a new Astroturf wicket. The GP&RCC committee has pledged to give £4,500 towards the total cost of purchasing a new wicket and we need you to top up what the club can afford to put towards the purchase.

We are hoping that with your support and that from all our members (past and present), local businesses and a few other donations from the community we serve including visiting cricket teams we can reach this total by the end of this season!
Please give generously as every pound will help us to get closer to installing a 'new' Astroturf cricket wicket ahead of the 2023 season, which will enable our juniors, girls and women's section to train and play more often and help us to meet the growing demand for cricket in Havering.
