Good evening and I hope that you are all well,
With the season now completely finished it is time to reflect
on the past nine weeks and what an unusual time it was.
We had some good cricket played this year and an unbelievable performance by Shaker taking
10 for 26 off 7.2 overs against Goresbrook. The good weather also held out enabling us to have a few
sociable weekends at the club whilst keeping socially distanced.
It is testament to our hard working committee members, captains and members that have helped out,
that we have be able to play as many games as we have. A special thank you has to go to Mark Hope
and the colts managers for playing over 50 matches in very difficult circumstances.
We have to take a lot of positives from this short season and one is the amount of old and new players
that we have seen this year and I welcome them all. Even the ones that gave me a few late nights and
more than one sore head.
We have also managed to complete a number of outstanding jobs at Gallows this year and a special
thank you goes to Johnson's Builders and Scaffolders for all their help, especially for the installation of
our new clubhouse clock which was kindly donated by Steve McCormack. We still have a lot to do to our
clubhouse and the committee is currently looking into a refurbishment program and any help, financial or
physical would be gratefully received.
It also gives me great pleasure to announce four new VP's this year, Steve Brant, Gordon McKie,
Steve McCormack and Phil Ayers. We thank you all for your service and commitment to our club
over the years and I look forward to having lunch with you all next year.
The committee also welcome Bill Middleton as our new Club Welfare Officer and we will all be working
hard over the winter in preparation for whatever type of season that we are presented with next year.
I look forward to seeing you all again next year and I pray that you and your families stay safe and well in
the months ahead.
Kind Regards
Barry Seager
Chairman
