JUNIOR RESULTS ROUND UP

19 Aug 2020

With our Under-7 intra-club terriers game called off last Friday night and some unhelpful weather forecast over the weekend, it was great to see some of the junior teams able to play and continue their progress.

Having beaten Goresbrook just days before, the Under-9 saw a reverse on the 13th August. However, progress is clear, team spirit is alive and well and we were sure they would be back on the winning trail before long.

Indeed, just three days later they hosted Hornchurch Athletic and,  bowling, fielding and batting well, kept the visitors to 267 for 9 (Terriers nett score 222). In reply, Park recorded 320 for 7 (Terrier nett score 285) to win by 63 runs, an excellent effort.  They have a busy week coming up and are sure to benefit from the constant action.

Our Under-11 also had a couple of games this week. Sole Havering representatives in the MET Under-11 league, they currently sit just above mid-table after a defeat against Old Parkonians, making it two wins from four games, a terrific performance given this is their first experience against a number of MET sides.

Learning all the time, the year 5 and 6 side took on Rainham last night (Tuesday) and, without being at their absolute best, managed to win by 36 runs - 346 for 7 (nett 311) against 320 for 9 (nett 275) - Congratulations all!

With the Under-15 fixture cancelled due a waterlogged pitch, only a midweek Under-13 fixture against South Loughton remained.

Again Havering's only side in the MET - this time the Jeff Rodrigues Trophy - have proven well worth their place although this match didn't go the way we would have wanted. Despite James' 23 not out, the batsmen were not at their best in the fading light, but are still fighting for a top half finish in the league after a matching two from four- we wish them all the best in the final three games.
