Under 11s clock up another win

22 Jul 2018

It seems as though winning the toss and fielding is the way to go with this year's Under-11 team.

Once again, the week's Captain (this time George MW) elected to bat second and after an excellent 20 overs restricted the visitors to 243 Terrier Rules. Fielding three newcomers on their debut with hard-ball proved no barrier as each one contributed with ball and in the field in a very tidy display

Usually that target is well within reach and having clocked up far larger scores previously, the batsmen went into the second half with confidence. However, Ilford sent out their better and older bowlers first giving GPa real shock and putting them into minus figures before rallying to sit at 209 after ten overs. From there, the practice put in paid of and the final few overs saw them reach boundary after boundary, with great calling and running, interspersed with decent cricket shots.

In the end the score of 274 didnt flatter the home side although they didn't get there without a few entertaining moments, it was a comfortable victory and one that sets them up for a vital league match against Goresbrook on Thursday 26th.
