Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 4th XI v EPPING 3RD on Sat 30 May 2009 at 1pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 18pts

Match report Todays match report is supplied with the assistance of Joy Division. A marvellous band of the late 70's early 80's who's genius will never be forgotten. Ian Curtis RIP.

An INSIGHT into the season so far. Bowled well, batted in fits and starts, fielded often an ATROCITY EXHIBITION.

Along come Epping CC, lose toss again and a sense of ISOLATION sets in when asked to field in the heat. Harry Grey and James Pegram put there HEART AND SOUL into the opening overs but were largely unsuccessful. Tight lines and restricted scoring.

However THESE DAYS its hard to keep Chris Mckie quiet (his dad will vouch for this). On he came and out went the opener. Sam Hewittcompleting his first of three games in TWENTY FOUR HOURS, then claimed the second opener before Chris removed number three LBW not playing a shot to the other one!.

Dave Cobhil applied WD 40 to his "experienced" left shoulder and bowled 13 solid overs even claiming two wickets in two balls, most of the team were too young to remember the last time this happen, and senility has claimed the memory from Cobs himself.Cobblers yet again rolling back the DECADES. Sorry Cobs could not PASSOVER that opportunity.

THE ETERNAL Epping Innings came to a close on 52 overs having just sneaked over 200 to claim maximum batting points

Eppings continual struggle with DIGITAL numbers on the scoreboard was a very amusing feature of the innings and my thanks go to Mike Hewitt and Gordon Mckie for indeed doing most of the pitchside duties.

EXERCISE ONE for the Park batsman was to win the game and on that wicket 202 looked a formality. Ammar's first appearance of the season saw some good shots before being out fpr 16, Peter Collier settled for at the other end. Michael Pegram got a rare straight one that clattered his pads and was dismissed for 8. Skipper Dave Pasola then came in at 56 - 2 and played some large shots, powerful shots and tried to avoid running. Peter came out of INCUBATION and reached 64 not out at the end and Pasola hit a personal best 93 not out.

Thanks again to Gordon and his scoring, Epping for the spirit in which the game was played and that bloke who bought the ball back after one of my sixes ended up in the garden.

Notable mentions to COLONY and LOVE WILL TEAR US APART which are also great Joy Division tracks. TYhus ends this TRANSMISSION.
