JUNIOR CRICKET We offer cricket training to children from the age of 5 upwards. With younger children aged 5 - 8 directed towards our 'All Stars' programme run by the club in conjunction with the ECB. The Under 9, Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 teams train outside from mid-April to the middle of August. We also run indoor winter nets training programme at Campion School (Nov-Dec & March-April). We enter the Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 teams into age appropriate cup and league competitions. The team is selected on a rotational basis depending upon availability which ensures that as many Juniors as possible experience regular competitive cricket. GP&RCC try to ensure that we are playing friendly cricket as early as possible so that our Juniors can experience game situations and develop their knowledge of cricket. We have developed strong relationships with local sides that enable us to hold friendly fixtures from Under 9 upwards and it is hoped at the start of every season that we can set up a few Under 7 training games as well. Our Under 9 and Under 11 games are usually based on the terrier format, which allows all Juniors to participate and develop their individual ability (batting, Bowling and Fielding) as well as instilling a team-working ethic. In addition to cup fixtures, we also organise frequent friendly matches and we encourage as much involvement in the club as possible.
