Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Sunday 3rd X1 v West Billericay on Sun 27 Jul 2003 at 2pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 4 wickets
Match report
Park took the field after putting the opposition in. It looked to be a good move when Park's opening bowlers Adam Locke and Tom Kershaw bowled economically and were unluck not to get a wicket. First wicket down was a caught behind by Bob Coombe off the bowling of son Danny Coombe. Matt Tarr also got a wicket with a fine inswinger that bowled the West Billericay opener. Andy D'cruz also got a wicket when his old man caught on of his long hops at midwicket. Modesty prevents me detailing the catch!!! West Billercay accelerated towards the end with middle oder batsman Loader hiting a fine ton to set Park a total of 220.
Park got off to a bad start when Adam Locke chipoed a full toss to long on but from then on every batsman contrubuted to the run chase. Tom Kershaw was unlucky to miss out on a maiden half century but showed that he is a batsman capable of by cocentrating hard and punishing the bad ball in a fine 43. Craig Bray and Matt Tarr both kept the score ticking over, continuing with the fine form they have both been showing this year. Billy Payne looks to be comming back to form with some fine strong hotting in a quickfire 21. Bob Coombe hit a fine 36 with some lovely delicate late cuts to accompany the usually big shots. It was left to Dave Osbourne to take Park home showing the young lads how to finish a game with some nice push and run stuff. A good win and some fine performances by the youngsters in particluar.
