Match report This first game of the season was played in bitterly cold conditions at Gallows Corner which saw Gidea Park outplay their opponents in every department . However, we were still unable to bowl the opposition out. They never actually made any effort to win the game. With the bat Derek ALLEN made a hundred with good contributions from much improved young Andrew D'CRUZ 46, Chris COLLIER 19, and Ron MONTGOMERY 24 no. On the bowling front 18 year old Charl Du PREEZ from South Africa made his debut for the club and got his first wicket in a fine opening spell. Fourteen year old Jason TOOGOOD also bowled well showing that he has obviously benefited from winter nets with Essex. Andrew D'CRUZ also got 2 wickets with a good spell of leg spin with very cold fingers. Overall it was a good bowling and fielding display considering the very cold conditions.
