Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI v Loughton on Sat 31 Aug 2002 at 1pm

Match report VILLAGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well what can you say about the worst game of the season !!!

Loughton won the toss and inserted GP&R with absolutely no intention of chasing a target and making a game of it !!!! Perhaps it was no more than to be expected given the way they play their cricket.

GP&R scored a creditable 204 for 5 dec on a slow wicket based mainly around 2 innings, Greg Churchill and Jerry Trayler both scoring 61 supported with cameos by Ian Gordon and James "Spangles" Evans at the end of the innings.

Loughton who had 2 hours and 20 overs to score the runs required blocked the game out from the start and ended on 130 for 6 off of 56 overs !!!! Tactics that may backfire depending on the last game of the season.

Loughtons Vice Captain commented on a number of occasions " It doesn't matter, we wont be playing you next year anyway!!" Mmmmm looking at the league table he may be right but perhaps he should have looked at the points situation before commenting!!!! It was very quiet in the BAR afterwards.!!! Egg and face spring to mind!! lets hope so eh !!!

Still in with a chance boys !!!
