Hadleigh & Thundersley v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 16 Aug 2003 at 1.30pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 7 wickets

Match report It is difficult to create a report about this match. We turned up knowing that if we won the game we would win the league and at 4.15pm we achieved exactly that. However, I think that games like this give you very little satisfaction.
We won the toss and took the field with 8 fielders (3 on the way). At 2.45pm and 19.2 overs later we were enjoying a varied tea having bowled 10 man Hadleigh out for just 62 via a misely spell of 5-9 from Paul Winmill off 10 overs and an interesting 4.2 overs from Tom Kershaw in which 40 runs were scored but also 3 wickets taken. Jason Toogood's opening spell yielded 1-3 from 5 overs.
In reply Travis Hussain got the only ball to bounce and we lost 2 more cheap wickets needlessly in overhauling Hadleigh's total in just 18.4 overs with Jason Toogood contributing a fine 31 not out.
So that is it promotion gained, league won so congratulations to everyone. We have achieved exactly what we wanted to with 3 games left. Rather than just hold our hands up and say thats it lets try to win these by playing positively as ever.
