Saffron Walden v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 01 Jun 2002 at 1.30pm
Match was Drawn

Match report After a Good Start by Park claiming 3 early wickets Saffron Walden hit their way out of trouble by attacking the short boundary straight and the sometimes wayward Park bowling. Without the contrbution of the Wiseman Brothers the Saffron Walden Score would have struggled to climb over the 100 mark but 173 runs between them enabled a declaration of 257 off their 52 overs.

A good start was required to chase a score of this size and unfortunately this did not happen as park at one stage found themselves 52 for 4. Good knocks by Jerry Trayler 67 and 56 from Pun Satsangi kept the chase alive, however, unfortunately every time we looked set to challenge we lost a wicket and maximum batting points were all that could be salvaged.

If this side has aspirations of winning this league, these are the types of games that must be won. Bowling to your field and building innings and parterniships are essential for winning cricket matches and we did not do this well this week.

Can do better, must do better!

Next game, last years Champions !!!
