Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Under 13's v Maldon on Sun 15 May 2011 at 09:30
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Lost by 116 runs
Match report
Peter Coe Cup - 1st round robin league game of 7
Maldon CC - 238 for 4
GP&R CC - 122 for 8
Maldon CC won by 116 runs
Another cricket lesson dished out by a strong Maldon side.
As last week Park struck early, with Tommy Lyons taking a wicket in his first over, before Maldon's top order took over with 3 of the first 4 batsmen all scoring 50. Again Park were sloppy in the field with catches dropped and a high number of wides bowled.
In reply Park lost 3 early wickets before a half century stand between David Goff (28) and Elliot Ross (25) brought some respectability to the score, both looking in no trouble at all but only able to score slowly against some accurate bowling.
So, another heavy defeat, with 3 major issues to address:
- we can’t afford to bowl so many wides
- we need to be sharper in the field and take the chances offered
- we need to learn to score more quickly, not by slogging but by learning how to run the ball around taking 1s and 2s as at the moment it’s a big shot or nothing.
Next up is a friendly vs. Woodford Wells ‘B’ so a perfect opportunity to work on a few things and to give a few of the other players a run out.
