Match report In this the first league game of the season Ilford batted first. They were indebted to Sagoo(66) & Whiting(57) for there total, and also Park's poor catching. Which left Sagoo off the hook several times. Skipper Derek Allen was the pick of the bowlers who all toiled away on a very flat track. Allen picked up 5- 64 from 16 overs.

Park's reply got off to a bad start when Ron Montgomery went early for a duck. Jeff Thomas & Baljit Singh set about repairing the early damage, Singh playing some fine drives on his way to a stylish 40. But his dismissal & that of Thomas in consectuive deliveries put Park on the back foot once a again.

Skipper Allen & James Patient once again set about consolidating Park's position, before Allen set about pushing for victory. He played a very positive inninngs which only ended with a change of bowling & pace with the introduction of off spinner Sagoo. Allen bowled off his pad trying to force the ball through the legside for what seemed alot more than 46. While the tactics of Ilford seemed very negetive bowling leg stump or outside to a legside field.

Patient was joined by wicketkeeper Steve Brant but neither of them were up to the task of seeing Park home & the game ended in a tame draw.
