Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 28 runs

Match report GPRCC won the toss and elected to bat in this 20 over Cox N Kings Cup and Havering League double header.
Gidea Park U15’s got off to a steady start, the openers putting on 26 before loosing Alex Alexandru for 6 in the 7th over, he was followed shortly after by his opening partner, the ever consistent Eddie Gavigan who scored 17 (he has opened 4 times this year and averages an excellent 34 - WELL DONE EDDIE). Waleed Wain did well when he came to the wicket top scoring with 25, in company with Vijay Vyas (15) he amassed a good partnership 46 runs. The pair did not have it all their own way, the Upminster 'A' bowlers did well to keep the score line in check, after 16 overs Gidea park had 81 runs. Then Steven Gallagher added important impetuous at the end of the Park innings hitting some lusty straight blows to the boundary, he finished on 14 not out and Gidea Park on 108 for 5.
Steven Gallagher opened the bowling for Gidea Park with a maiden over and set the tone for the tight bowling to follow by him and his teammates. He bowled a 4 over spell for only 8 runs, taking 2 wickets. Gidea Park U15’s caught and fielded well, in particular Eddie Gavigan who once again stepped up to the plate taking 2 wickets for 14 runs in his 4 over spell including a well taken caught and bowled effort. Upminster ‘A’ were restricted to 48 runs off 12 overs, their No4 S. Loganathan batted well, top scoring with 20 runs. He began to increase the momentum of the Upminster ‘A’ innings, his eventual run out occurred at a crucial point in the game. His team-mate struck a firm off drive from an Alex Alexandru delivery. Alexandru did well to intercept the ball parrying it to his left, the non striking Logananthan hesitated in the middle of the wicket, Alexandru was able to retrieve the ball quickly and underarm it to the much improved Gidea Park U15’s wicket keeper Robert Jones, who did very well to gather the ball in his right glove and bring it back to brake the stumps, leaving Logananthan stranded well short of his ground. Upminster ‘A’ U15’s were unable to recover and eventually finished their innings 28 runs short on 80 for 6 in 20 overs.
Result: GPRCC won by 28 runs – WELL DONE LADS.
