Gidea Park & Romford CC U16 v Ardleigh Green on Sun 11 Jul 2004 at 2pm
Gidea Park & Romford CC Won 254 runs
Ardleigh Green put Park into bat and Park responded with a mammoth 367-3 built around a fine century by opener Andy D'cruz who carried his bat for a fine 124(1 six and 12 fours). There was consistant batting all through the line up with Craig Bray hitting 34 at the top of the order in an opening partnership worth 74 runs. Jason Toogood came in at number 3 and played some really classy shots before being bowled for 81(14 fours and 1 six). Ryan Sammons then hit a quick 18 but it was left to 'keeper Jack Kiliber to finish the innings in style hitting 59 which included 6 fours and two big sixes.
Ardleigh Green reply started quite well but quite slowly due to some accurate bowling by the Park openers of Edward Gavigan and Adam Locke. Adam Locke made the breakthrough with two wickets in two overs and really seems to be bowling at near his best at the moment. Ryan Sammons took a wicket in a four over spell were he just gave away 3 runs. Danny Coombe and Mark D'cruz both bowled their meduim pace well giving away just 18 runs in their 5 overs each and both picked up a wicket. Star of the bowling though was Peter Collier who picked up 3 wickets in his 5 overs with his "darts"(this is a term the boys use which I think is complementary!!!). Thinks were looking that good for Park that even the skipper had a bowl and picked up the last two wickets one of which was the stuborn Green number 3 Chris Brett who hit a defiant 37.
A comprehensive win boys and its all to play for with two games left in this years campaign
