Stanford-le-Hope v Gidea Park & Romford CC U16 on Sun 23 May 2004 at 2pm
Gidea Park & Romford CC Won 168 runs
Park won the toss and batted and after some cautious batting against a good early Stanford attack Park made good progress. Craig Bray and Matt Tarr missed out but Andrew D'cruz who finished with a fine 89, Jason Toogood and Ryan Sammons (28 each)made good progress. The batting at the end was excellend with Luke Carana(42no) and Jack Kliber (49no) both hitting boundaries and running excellently between the wickets. The pair guided park to a formidable total of 288.
Stanford never really looked like they would get the runs although they did make some progress flaying the bat against the quicker bowlers. Parks fortunes changed whnn Skipper Ryan Sammons slowed things down with the medium swing bowling of Billy Payne and the legspin of Andy D'cruz. Billy finished with the fine figures og 6-2-11-2 and Andy akthough more expensive finished with 8-2-23-4.
A good win boys against not the strongest opposition. We will have to raise our game over the next few games to make progress in the Maatcplay tournament.
