Gidea Park & Romford CC U16 v Woodford Green on Sun 16 May 2004 at 2pm
Gidea Park & Romford CC Won 5 wickets
Woodford Green batted first and were soon in trouble due to a devistating new ball spell from Adam Locke who took 3 wickets for just 13 runs of five overs. His new ball partner Jason Toogood wieghed in with a wicket also. The rest of the park bowlers were in the main economical with skipper Ryan Sammons particulary difficult to get away bowling 5 overs for just 6 runs and 1 wicket. Jason Toogood returned to the attack to polish off the tail in some style to finish with a four wicket haul and the immpressive figures of 8-2-25-4. The Woodford Green total of 102 did not appear to be enough from their point of view
Park looked to have things in control and proceeded to 25 without too much problem. Opener Craig Bray then went for 10 and 3 Park ducks saw 25-0 turn into 29-4. Careful and responsible batting by opener Andrew D'cruz and keeper Jack Kilber saw that this tricky situation was navigated successfully with Andy scoring a patient fifty in 2hr 15m and Jack batting for 1hr 45m. It was a shame that Andy got out so near the end after doing so much work to ensure the side got past the winning post. Danny Coombe joined Jack Kliber to get the further 9 runs that were required for victory. Victory was acheived with 5.2 overs to spare
A good start to this years Matchplay campaign (last weeks bowl-out excepted!!)
