Gidea Park & Romford CC Sunday A v RAPHAEL on Sun 01 Jun 2008 at 2PM
Gidea Park & Romford CC Lost by 105 runs
GP&R's young side (the skipper excepted) put up a good show against a strong visiting Raphael side containing two very good guesting Australians who scored heavily against Park's inexperienced attack. Jamie Libby, playing his first game of the season and debutant Matt Wang showed promise while U15 players Elliott Skinner and Jakk Carver bowled an excellent line and length to two accomplished batsmen. James Evans and James Patient provided the slow bowling options in the middle of the innings but once the visitors decided to go aerial the shortened boundaries proved difficult to defend. 280 was always likely to be out of reach in 40 overs unless one of the more experienced home batsmen scored big and so it proved as despite some lusty blows in James Evans 58 and some crisp boundaries in Greg Churchill's 44, Park finished 105 runs short. Once again, the younger players batted well in difficult conditions, showing a sound technique and good attitude and can take heart from their performances against a much more experienced oppposition.
