Having moved up to second place after last weeks win, Park had a bad day at the Wells and were condemned to a heavy defeat. Winning the toss was one of the few things that went right as after that the home side dominated the match. The Wells were able to field one of their strongest sides of the season while Park's availability saw several regulars missing and the difference showed. An early dropped catch proved expensive as the Wells openers put on over a hundred in quick time, none of Park's bowlers able to find any consistent line and length and the punishment was severe on the small ground. Ian Gordon picked up four wickets, on the back of his seven last week, as Park tried to keep the total in check and 15 year old Aaron Hughes bowled well but the runs kept flowing and a flurry of shots in the closing stages took the total to a mammoth 312.
Chasing such a total required a fast start and several big innings but it wasn't to be as a combination of some loose shots and sharp catching by the Wells fielders saw Park soon in trouble at 40 for 4 and their experienced players out of the game. Abdul Zabwala played nicely in the middle of the innings but wickets were falling regularly and the last hour started with Park nine wickets down for 130. It didn't take long for the final wicket to go down still five runs short of a second batting point.
Park will be hoping for a return to form for next weeks visit of Wanstead.
