Match report A winning start to the league campaign. Westcliff won the toss and decided to bat first. An excellent opening spell by Gordon and Renevoize ensured runs were difficult to come by early on. Watts and Johnson decided to try to increase the run rate at the first bowling change and built a useful partnership. Runs again dried up during an eighteen over spell of spin between Patel and Churchill. Wickets fell steadily until and final flurry from Potter carried Westcliff to a total of 218.
Parks reply was all about their openrers Baker and Collier. They chased down the total expertly and sensibly. The run rate was always kept around a very managable 4-5 an over and by the time Baker was out for a very well constructed 100 the game was all but won. Despite the loss of a couple of late wickets PArk ran out comfortable winners with Collier remaining 90 not out.
