Match report A youthful Park XI played in this Essex T20 group match played midweek and lost to more experienced opponents by 57 runs. Fives batted first and lost an early wicket to Harry Thompson before Akram 36 and Norris 22 steadily pushed the score along against some steady Park bowling, Connor Donnelly with a decent medium paced spell going on to record 2 for 24 off his 4 overs, and Jamal Francis taking a stunning caught and bowled to dismiss Summers. Ben Britton 49 kept the momentum going for Fives and a final score of 155 off 20 overs was about par for the conditions. In reply Park lost Chris Lamb first ball and with George Bryant struggling against some accurate bowling progress was slow. Jamal Francis tried to up the tempo when he had the strike but holed out at deep mid on, Chay Hedges was bowled, and the run rate mounted to 10 an over. Matt Brett played a cameo innings of 24 before Bryant was out in the 16th over for 39, and the rest of the innings passed peacefully as the run rate was impossible to achieve. This was a good learning curve for some of Park's younger players in a format of the game that does not allow a moment's relaxation!
