Match report After a slip up last week against Ilford it was important to put in a good show this week and in the most oppresive heat that is exactley what we did. Having been asked to field first Park showed great discipline in soring tempreatures.Ben Montgomery produced a fine spell of pace bowling and was unlucky not to have got greater reward than the one wicket caught brilliantly by Croft at cover one handed.Parks solid line and length made it hard for Wanstead to score Chambers produced a fine innings of patience and was later to be rewarded with a fine century but Wansteads order lacked his determination and slowly the pressure told.Khan had Akram caught behind by Hyam and the other Akram was run out. Hussain gained another caught by Whatling at mid off before lunch and Wanstead went in at 136-4.Davey was reintroduced after lunch and was to gain 2 wickets in his first over Fayyaz caught by HYam first ball and Hinton caught by Churchill at 1st slip for 4. There was to be no let up as Park dominated in the field with concentration and good ground fielding. Ellison wass to fall to Churchill bowled and then the prize wicket of CHambers finally bowled by Churchil for 102. Mackay was then caught first ball by Hyam off Churchill who was to finish with a well deserved 4-30 from 11.2.
Park got off to a good start Hyam and Hussain putting on 49 before Hyam was caught behind off Saeed who showed great fight and determination throughout the defense of 185. Hussain went on to score 63 before falling to Akram caught at cover. Whating was adjuged LBW for 10.Davey went for 7 caught and bowled. Churchill and Collard added 61 for the 5th wicket before Collard fell to Saeed caught by Chambers for 33. Luke Baker saw Park home hitting the winning boundary and Churchill capped off a fine overall performance with 31 not out.
A great all round performance in searing heat. Great effort !!!
