South Woodford v Gidea Park & Romford CC Saturday 2nd X1 on Sat 27 Jul 2002 at 1.30
Gidea Park & Romford CC Lost 39 runs.
South Woodford won the toss and batted first. On a boiling hot afternoon Gidea Park restricted South Woodford to 216 with their No. 3 Sayeed top scoring with a lucky and sratchy 66. At the end of the innings their No 10 blasted 34 which took them to a higher than expected total. Alan Croft was the pick of the bowler with 5 for 63 of 16 overs. Gidea Park were confident of getting the runs but got off to a bad start when James Redwood was bowled in the first over. They then went on to lose Ayres and Allen and were 29 for 3. Patient and Thomas batted well and were putting the innings back on track when both fell LBW in the space of an over. However, Bowler, Evans and Windebank looked good and we were back on track until a silly run out ended any realistic chance of winning. Bowler batted very well for his 41 not not. This was another disappointing result but at least had several positive points to take into next weeks game.
