Old Southendians v Gidea Park & Romford CC Saturday 4th X1 on Sat 13 Jul 2002 at
Gidea Park & Romford CC Won 6 Wickets

After winning the toss another early breakthrough was made when J Toogood took out one half of the opening partnership with the assistance of a smart catch by M Hiscocks. Old Southendians made a good recovery to get over the 100 barrier with the loss of no further wickets... However once Climpson was removed run out to another excellent piece of fielding by Hiscocks the middle and tail end collapsed postine a score of 156 all out With Toogood finishing with 3/16 and A D'cruz 3/43. A small mention of Matt Hiscocks, another fantastic display in the field with two fine catches a run out via the w/k and a superp direct hit from deep point, well done Matt!!!

Park came out with an early bath in mind and with an opening partnership of 66 before L Hall's dismissal for 15 we were crusing all the way, with O Boothby being run out on 96 by vice captain M Burch who finished on 33 n/o park needed only 4 to win which came via the borrowed bat of Tom Montgomery.

Another fine performance from the 4ths bowling attack was followed by an excellent display by the batsmen... At last

Well done all!!!
