UPMINSTER v Gidea Park & Romford CC Saturday 3rd X1 on Sat 17 Jun 2006 at 1.30pm
Match was Drawn
Park lost the toss and were put in, and got off to a very good start with allrounder Chouhan the main runscorer, going along at a good run rate, for a very successful opening stand with Bray. Park put on 139 for the 1st wicket with Bray getting 40, and then Danny Rees getting 45, Chouhan was finally out for 80. Once these 3 were out, wickets began to tumble quiet regular as the overs were running out and Park wishing to add quick runs. With some very good catches in the deep by the oppo, Gidea finally finished their innings on 243 for 9, slighty less than wanted, and for slighty more wickets than were hoped for.
With limited bowling options, gp&r started the defence well, keeping the runs down and getting an early wicket. Then ex-Park player D'cruz started playing some shots and batted well, keeping the score ticking over. Rees pulled a hamstring and was limited, but Chouhan bowled all the way through for a very good spell finally finishing with 5 for 90 off 22! Upmister were at one stage 183 for 2, but wickets began to fall regulary and Park managed to keep the required run rate in check. Young Waleed Wain come on for a couple of lively spell's at the end, to keep them in check, picking up a wicket. There was some good fielding in the deep and catches being taken, just a shame a couple were dropped by our overseas player JR! But once Potter was out for a KP style 114, and 7 down, the total was too much for Upminster.
