A very strong Hornchurch side humbled Park's U15's on a hot Sunday Morning at Gallows Corner. Batting first Park lost Simon Trowse in the first over and Andy Jones and Connor Halsey were left to face some of the best bowling we'd seen this season. Despite playing and missing with some frequency and being subjected to some of the noisiest 'fielding' i've heard for some time, these two added 22 runs in six overs. Lloyd Renvoize, captain in the absence of Adam McKie, batted well again, hitting 22 runs before a middle order wobble brought Tom Stephen to the crease, he came in when the score was 37 and departed when it was 83 having added 19 with Lloyd and 27 with Cameron Baxter(13), getting 21 well crafted runs of his own. Park ended with 95 for 8, when at one stage it looked as though they would not get through the 20 overs. So a solid performance against some strong bowling but in truth it was not going to be enough and so it proved. The Park bowling looked ordinary in comparison, apart from David Bretts fine 4 overs 1 for 11. With some inconsistent and lax fielding from some of the side, Hornchurch were able to knock the runs off for the loss of just two wickets in 14 overs. Without doubt Parks batting is more reliable than the bowling and Hornchurch showed just how effective good line and length can be with the ball.
