On a lovely sunny morning Gidea Park established a decent score, only to bowl ineffectively and see Ardleigh Green cruise to a reasonably easy win, having defeated them easily earlier on in the year. Like the week before, Park batted first and set a sound platform against some steady and straight bowling from Ardleigh Green. Losing Adam Mckie (1) early, David Brett and Andrew Jones once again batted well adding 66 runs for the second wicket in 15 overs. Andrew Jones was unluckily run out on a miscounted 7 ball over having hit some nice boundaries in his 20. This allowed a swashbuckling Lloyd Renvoize to the crease to hit a fine quickfire 23 including a nice six over mid-on. David Brett meanwhile was finally caught out for a solid 31, what I believe to be his best score for the team, a great knock for the team. Lloyd and Alex Hogan took the score on to 105-3 at the close, possibly a little shy of what was needed, unless our bowling was tight. Unfortunately the Park bowling did not follow the same steady standard of the batting, and instead of some tight early overs to put some pressure on the opposition we gave 67 runs away in the first 10 for just one wicket. Once again Anaurag Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, delivering the only maiden of the match and finishing with 1-13 off 4 overs, Adam Mckie bowled well (1-14) and Cameron Baxter picked up a wicket and a mini crisis for Ardleigh, when they lost 2 wickets in two balls, gave Park a little hope, but it was too little too late and Green reached the target with 2 overs to spare.
