Gidea Park & Romford CC U15 v Walthamstow on Sun 21 May 2006 at 9.30am
Gidea Park & Romford CC Lost 8 wickets
After last weeks promising start the U15's were beaten, by some margin, by a strong Walthamstow side. A grey, cold morning, with rain in the air, started poorly for Park, who, batting first, lost Alex Hogan , run out for 0 without facing a ball. This signalled the start of some fine fielding by Walthamstow as a further run out followed and hardly any catches were dropped. Connor Halsey (27) batted well again and with Andy Jones(10) they added 27, but after Andrew's rather controversial dismissal, it proved to be the highest stand (27) of the innings and it was all a bit of a struggle thereafter. Anaurag Sharma (12 no) and David Brett(3) held together for a while but after 18 overs Park were dismissed for 66. It seemed Walthamstow wanted to get it over before the rain set in as they went off quickly, racing to 50 in 8 overs, but Anaurag came to the rescue again with a fine spell of 1 for 4 off 4 overs, bowling the only two maidens of the match. Lloyd Renvoize took our only catch, a good one at mid on, but we dropped a couple of chances, although David Bretts dropped catch was redeemed by a good throw to run out the only other wicket to be taken. The fielding generally looked as grim as the weather. Some work to be done in order to get back to the winning form of the week before.
