Match report Early season sunshine and a very blustery day for this friendly match played on a very good batting surface between a young Park side containing a number of debutants and a younger Chingford side (with the odd exceptions in age in both teams!). Park were asked to bat first and proceeded at an untroubled pace for the whole innings with all the batsmen having the chance of time in the middle against a modest attack. Ian Greenwood shook off the cobwebs with 24, Mughir Quereshi and Connor Donnelly scored 28 and 31 respectively, and there was a promising debut for Shyamal Vyas with a well constructed 62. Eight bowlers were used and Park declared at 214 for 6 giving Chingford the same amount of time to bat. Skipper Andy Jenner made sure all the bowlers got some overs under their belt and whilst Chingford were never near the required rate there was little in the pitch to help the attack. John Woodland played an aggressive 46 for the visitors and Vyas was the pick of the attack with some brisk medium pacers and two wickets, but at the end of the day a draw was a fair result for both teams. Next week the league programme begins with the 4th XI at home to Woodford Green 3rds and the 5th XI away to Leigh on Sea 4ths.
