Match report Park finished their league season with a comfortable win over Leigh 4ths, to finish with 12 wins and third place in the division. the visitors could not cope with Park's bowling attack as they had first use of a benign pitch at Royal Liberty School. Mueez Quereshi made the breakthrough with two wickets to continue his promising league debut season. Shaz Jabar followed up with two victims and then Nelson Lopes and Ian Greenwood worked their way through the remainder of the order, the only resistance coming from a gritty 22 by Kevin Newton, who was last out, all ten wickets being either bowled or LBW a tribute to the accuracy of the attack. Nelson finished the season with 33 wickets @ 12.5 and Ian with 34 wickets at 11.2, excellent performances. In reply Ammar Zahid was out to a stunning catch of a well struck square cut and Greenwood chipped a catch, but at Mike Clifford and Aidan McDonald were in no trouble taking the score to 62 when the former gloved a catch to the keeper. At 84 for 3, two runs needed, it was all over but three wickets fell as the batsmen all tried to hit a six to win the game (end of season-itis?) before a calmly played couple of singles won it! Over the season Park played some good cricket, just missing out on promotion, and indeed played every match, none of their opposition scratching in a division where too many teams called off games and handed points away. The young players introduced all fitted in well and their games developed with the experience, promising more for next year, and the more senior players all played well as a unit. Thanks to everyone for making it such an enjoyable season!!
