Match report Gidea Park batted first and got off to a good start on a damp pitch going at 6 an over for the first ten overs thanks to Phil Walker (24) and Chris Collier (71). Collier cruised to 50 and brought the score to 100 by the 20 over mark with assistance of Ian Batch (14) whos 10 singles in a row is surely a record but ensured the strike stayed with Collier. The second part of the innings was dominated by some big bibbing by Rudi Filtmier whos 65 not out included 4 sixes and 5 fours. Gidea Park ended their innings on 239 for 7. Harold Wood started poor and where reduced to 21 - 4 thanks to some accurate opening bowling by Harris Afridi (1 - 7 off 5) and Jack Carver (3 - 21 off 5). 1st change bowler Ian Batch (2 - 6 off 6) then took a wicket with the first ball of his spell when he nipped one back to take the Harold Wood Captains off stump. Batchys celebration was a sight to behold as he kissed the park badge and sent the wood captain on his way. Leg spinner Mckie then bowled a magnificent accurate spell taking 4 - 16 off 5.3 reducing Harold Wood to 101 all out. A good start to the season and a well deserve win by 138 runs.
