Gidea Park & Romford CC U13 v Woodford Wells on Sun 12 Jun 2005 at 9.30
Gidea Park & Romford CC Won 4 wickets
The most pleasing thing about this win for GP&R U13's were the number of contributions from different players. Adam McKie took 3 catches and scored 21, Daniel Herrold and Anaurag Sharma both took 3 wickets, Colin Campbell took 2 wickets for 0 runs, Andy Jones hit 24 runs and all of them were ably supported by some excellent bowling and fielding (two super run outs) from all the team. Missing some key players (Lloyd called up to the U15's that morning, plus regular keeper Connor not available) GP&R would have to play well against a solid Woodford Wells team. W/Wells batted first and started well, reaching 58 for 1 in 13 overs, but GP&R continued to plug away and Sharma's leg spin, coupled with some good catching from captain Adam McKie suddenly saw the oppositions run rate slow. Herrold's three wickets and a fine 2 overs from Campbell, to mop up the tail, left GP & R with 83 runs to score in 22 overs. The McKie brothers set about the task ably , putting on 30 for the first wicket. But then GP&R had a mini crisis and fell to 52 for 5 with ten overs left. Andrew Jones and Anaurag Sharma steadied the ship however, and took the team to within 4 runs of victory, with the former hitting a fine 24 and Sharma adding a solid 11 not out to add to his excellent bowling performance. Ali Ahmed smote the winning 4 to provide a good win for the team, their 4th of the season.
